Protesters gathered Tuesday in downtown Raleigh's Moore Square and along Angier Avenue in Durham to voice opposition to the federal immigration enforcement operations throughout the Triangle area. 
The changes are primarily recommended to fill up one new elementary school and to reduce overcrowding at other schools. The proposal also includes changes to which schools a student can apply to for a different calendar.
Durham police arrested 44-year-old Assante Moore after police said her 4-year-old son accidentally shot himself with an unsecured gun. She is now facing several charges including felony child abuse serious bodily injury and misdemeanor permit children use of a firearm.
